A narrow footpath encircles Stamford Memorial Park which many children and families used to cycle around safely (learning to ride bikes, safe leisure activity away from roads etc.). However, cyclists have now been banned from using the pathway as it is deemed undesirable for some of the pedestrians that use this path also. If the path could be widened and split between pedestrian and cyclist use then this would encourage more people to get out and learn to cycle and grow their confidence before being having to do this on roadways (which is unsafe and in many cases just stops people ever getting out on their bike in the first place).
